.......How do I become a Christian?
First you must recognize that all of humanity has sinned.
"for all have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God."
- Romans 3v23
Then you must understand that eternal life is a free gift from God
"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
- Romans 6v23
Because of God's Love for us, Jesus Paid the Death Penalty for our Sins, in turn we have the chance at eternal life.
"But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him."
- Romans 5v8,9
After understanding what God did for us, we feel compelled to more forward. We must confess Jesus as Lord in our life.
"That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved."
-Romans 10v9,10
Once you have recognized that only through Christ you can be saved, you ask him into your life as Lord.
"I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the father(God) except through me(Christ)."
John 14v6
"for, Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
Romans 10v13
.......What is the minimum I need to know to become a Christian?
- Recognize that you are a sinner and that you need a saving relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Confess (agree with God about) your sins
- Repent of your sins (turn from a life of sin to God)
- Ask Jesus to save you by His Grace
- Turn over the rule in your life to Jesus. Let Him be your Lord.
.......So is that it?
Salvation is not just a one time decisions, it is an everyday choice to live for God. Once you make the choice to follow God, you need to get plugged into a local church family.
The Local Church is one united body of which Christ is the head. The church's purpose is to glorify God by taking the Gospel to the world and building its members in Christ likeness.
